Dane Martin Boersma

Dane Martin Boersma, age 55, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2009 at Parkway Christian Center with Pastor Bob Bonner officiating. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Dane was born January 4, 1954 in Lynwood, California to Jack & Barbara Boersma. His family moved from Artesia, California to Grants Pass in 1962, where they ran a dairy farm. Dane graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1972, and attended University of Oregon for two years. On August 28, 1976, Dane married Sandy Ferguson in Grants Pass. They ran a Dairy Queen Franchise in Medford, Oregon from 1976 to 1978. In 1978 they returned to Grants Pass to help run the family dairy. Dane helped to convert the farm into Dutcher Creek Golf Course and was co-founder of Dutch Bros. Coffee in 1992. Today there are over 150 Dutch Bros. locations throughout the Western United States.

His memberships included Dutcher Creek Golf Course, Grants Pass Golf Course and Club Northwest.

His hobbies included playing golf, watching Oregon Ducks Football, listening to music, cars and the horse races.

Survivors include his wife Sandy Boersma of Grants Pass; a daughter, Dana Sawyer and husband, Tim of Grants Pass; two sons, Brant Boersma and wife, Amber of Grants Pass and Jonah Boersma of Eugene; parents, Jack & Barbara Boersma of Grants Pass; mother-in-law, Mildred Ferguson of Grants Pass; two sisters, Renda Reinhart and Carly Maxwell, both of Grants Pass, a brother, Travis Boersma of Grants Pass; two grandsons, Corbin and Hudson Sawyer and two granddaughters, Teya and Presley Boersma and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Sam & Berdina Boersma and Joe & Roberta Wesenaar, and his father-in-law, Ned Ferguson.
