Dan Warden

Dan Warden, age 75, of Selma, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at his home.

A visitation will be from 12 Noon to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Hull & Hull Chapel. Military Funeral Honors and interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Glenn Morrison American Legion Post 70, PO Box 2, Cave Junction OR 97523.

Dan was born to Thomas and Clara Warden on September 25, 1937 in Shafter, California. He joined the Army National Guard and served in Korea from 1952 – 1954. Then he joined the Navy and served from 1954 to 1961. On April 29, 1990 in Oregon City, Oregon he married the former Laurel Tipton. In 1994 he retired from Silver Eagle Trucking of Medford.

Dan was Past Commander of the Glenn Morrison American Legion Post 70 in Cave Junction, Past District 4 Commander in Southern Oregon, Boys State Commission leader for five years, Past President of the Korean War Veterans Association, and Past Vice Commander for the State of Oregon Veterans of Underage Military Service (VUMS). Dan was also a member of the Illinois Valley Baptist Church in Cave Junction.

Dan’s hobbies included woodworking, making concrete figurines, traveling to VSO conventions, bowling, fishing, and especially his family life.

Survivors include his wife, Laurel Warden of Selma; son, Robert Warden of Oak Grove, Oregon; daughter, Joann Nooner of Portland; son, Kevin Tipton of Portland; daughter, Caren Cox of Oregon City; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Dan is preceded in death by an infant daughter Dannie Sue; daughter, Vickie Nienke; his parents; sister, Peggy Furr; brothers, Tommy Warden and Gino LanFranco.
