Dale Eldon Rice

Dale Eldon Rice, 78, of Williams OR, passed away on July 26, 2020.

He was born in Rocksprings, Wyoming on April 25, 1942, son of Stanley and Theora Rice.

Dale graduated from Monroe High School in Los Angeles, California in 1960. He met Sheilia Tarries in 1965 on a blind date and they were married and welcomed their daughter in 1966.

He was a successful business owner for many years in California. He later Worked at Auto Phone in Santa Ana California in 1967-68 where he starting inventing a cordless phone. He then created his own TV repair store/Car Phone company, Communications Specialists Inc. in Glendale, CA where he finished his invention of the cordless phone which was patented in 1969. ‘CSI’ was later relocated to north Hollywood where he became one of the largest car phone dealers in Los Angeles County serving famous movie stars and politicians such as Kenny Rogers, Farrah Fawcet and Ronald Reagan. Dale and his business partner Mike Winkler, not only worked together at CSI but they also became real estate investors and builders.

His hobbies were almost ALL electronics. He was blessed to really love his work in the electronics industry. He retired in Williams Oregon and continued to tinker with all things electronic, inventing various things both practical and fun. He loved collecting antique cars. His favorite amongst them is his KLUGE (which was incorporated into the Dodge name on vehicle) it was made up of spare parts from vehicles, washing machines, cook stoves, plates etc. His grandson Cody still drives it in Williams to this day.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Davis and Son-in-Law Wade Davis; his grandchildren Cody Davis, Savannah Cobian, Tianna and Seth Davis; his great-grandchildren Carter, Tassie, Logan, Allden, Beau & Finnley; his brother Loren Rice; and special friend and caregiver Judy “Wonder Woman” Broadhead He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dean Rice.

The memorial service was held on Wednesday August 5, 2020 at Sparlin Cemetery in Williams Oregon where coincidentally his grandson Cody Davis created the block entryway pillars and wall for his Eagle Project in 2010 and his other grandson Seth Davis completed his Eagle Project doing the same thing at the entrance to Gotcher Cemetery across the street!
