Cyrus Van Creasey

Cyrus Van Creasey, age 68, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his home.

A viewing will begin at 9:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military funeral honors by the Oregon Army National Guard.

He was born to Cyrus Hamilton Creasey and Virgie Jewel (Bray) Creasey on September 24, 1948 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Redding, California. He served in the United States Army and his service took him to Vietnam where he was in the Tet Offensive military campaign.

He moved to Grants Pass 48 years ago and on June 6, 1969 he married the former Minnie Marie Griffin in Grants Pass. Cyrus worked in local plywood mills in various job positions until he medically retired in his mid-thirties.

As a disabled veteran, Cyrus participated in a local support group for Vietnam veterans.

Cyrus found joy in playing his guitar and singing country music, writing poetry, working on his cars, tinkering, flower gardening, feeding and watching humming birds, his furry family of dogs and cat, and his sense of humor including joke telling.

He will be remembered as a generous man who loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Creasey of Grants Pass; two daughters, Carrie Miller of Williams, Oregon and Becky Anderson of Grants Pass; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother, David of Arkansas; and two sisters, Lana of Arkansas and Wanda of Missouri.
