Clarence Edward Arms

Clarence Edward Arms was born March 25, 1923 in Ellsworth, Nebraska. The family moved to Grants Pass in 1936 and Clarence graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1941. He worked for Braden Motor Parts until entering the United States Army in 1943. After basic training, he went to England then landed in France six days after D-day. He returned to the United States on the Queen Mary in December 1945. On December 18, 1945 he married Viola Fredericksen in Nebraska. He went back to work for Braden Motor Parts in 1946. In 1951 he went to work for Prestel Motor Company as parts department manager and worked there for 37 years through 5 different owners – Prestel Motors, Williams Motors, Menasco Motors, Bartle-McKee, and Roe Motors retiring in 1988.

For 40 years his family had a cabin at Diamond Lake which Clarence loved and spent as much time as possible there, fishing, skiing, snowmobile, hiking, etc. Together with his wife, they took many trips to Diamond Lake after retirement.

Clarence enjoyed all sports.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Arms of Woodburn, Oregon; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Viola Arms in 2004; a daughter, Linda Jackson; and a brother, Harry Arms.

A viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Ken Bern officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass.
