Christine A. Stokes

Christine A. Stokes, age 54, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center from her chronic illness.

A private family service was held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Christine was born October 3, 1955 in Eugene, Oregon to Gregory & Elizabeth Montel. She was raised on the northern California coast. Christine, also known as Tina, moved to Alaska and married Roy Stokes and they had a daughter, Elizabeth Stokes. Christine moved to Grants Pass as a single mom in the 1980s from Anchorage and was blessed to see her daughter reach adulthood.

She was an avid reader and accomplished cook. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, tying flies, and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Stokes of Grants Pass; her mother, Beth Montel of Grants Pass; six sisters, Teresa Adams of Grants Pass, Tania DeSantis of Hillsboro, Lorena Becker and Susy Beck both of Grants Pass, Jeanette Montel of California, and Erica Blackwelder of Grants Pass; and two brothers, Bryan Montel of Grants Pass and Matthew Montel of Phoenix, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her father, L. Gregory Montel in 1996 and her estranged spouse, Roy Stokes.
