Obituary
Cherie Marlene Maddox
8/11/1934 - 5/13/2020
Born in Montana. Traveled to California as a young child.
Cherie married Harold Maddox on Oct.31,1954 in Garberville, California. She moved to Rogue River, Oregon with her husband and 3 children in 1964, to add one more child in 1968.
Cherie had high regard and love for the beautiful paintings of the Redwoods and scenes from nature that her husband created over their many years of marriage.

In Oregon, besides being a loving mother to her 4 children, Cherie also worked as an LPN and upon completing her RN, she worked in Grants Pass as a skilled and dedicated emergency room nurse for the next 30 years. Her heroic dedication was extended to the care of others throughout her life right up to a recent intervention helping a resident at her apartment building right before she fell ill.

Cherie enjoyed her kids and shared with them her love of the outdoors through hiking, camping, swimming, and even joined her older son, Steve one time, riding a motorcycle on dirt trails and backroads near their home.

After her children were grown, Cherie moved with her husband, Harold to Sunny Valley, OR where they homesteaded on 5 acres of forest land for the next 25 years. She welcomed her children along with her grandchildren for fun at the creek, lizard catching, blackberry picking, sleeping outside, bow and arrow shooting, swimming, and so much more. She raised chickens for a time and loved gardening, sewing, and the crafting of many projects. Cherie was an avid reader as well.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold after 61 years of marriage.
She is survived by one sister, Susan Hunt of Citrus Heights, CA as well as her 4 children Steven Maddox of Bend, OR, Cherie A Hewitt of Parma, ID, Shawn Maddox of Roseburg, OR and Jessica Hart of Beaverton. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Kristopher Maddox, Francis Maddox, Anthony Maddox, Kelly Hewitt, Ricky Hewitt, Katy Hewitt, Paris Hart, Rex Maddox, Luke Maddox , and 4 great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed.
