Charles David "Chuck" Monslow

Charles David “Chuck” Monslow, age 57, of Cave Junction, went to be with our Lord and Savior on November 22, 2010 due to melanoma.

A viewing and recitation of the rosary will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors.

A funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2010 at St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church with Father Bill Holtzinger officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2010 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Chuck was born November 4, 1953 in Portland, Oregon to David Monslow & Zerlene Delores Phillips the eldest of three children. Chuck attended Hillsboro High School and from 1971 to 1977 served in the United States Navy. He lived in Washington and Oregon before moving to Kansas in 1985. In 2003 he moved to Cave Junction. Throughout his life he held various jobs, the most recent of which was truck driving until he became ill.

Chuck was active throughout his life, enjoying karate, boxing, and exercising. His interests also included Elvis, classic cars and NASCAR.

He was a member of St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church.

Chuck is survived by his father, David; siblings, Patrick and Phillip; three nieces and nephews; several cousins and lots of friends; his companion, Kathy Young and her children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Zerlene in July 2004.

“A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet,” is how Chuck truly lived his life. He will be remembered by many friends.
