Charles "Charlie" Brown

Charles Albert “Charlie” Brown, age 83, of Grants Pass, died December 16, 2017 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Charlie was born March 15, 1934 in Emporia, Kansas to Theodore Herbert Brown & Josephine Frances Schram Brown. He was raised in Rogue River. At a young age, he started working to help his family by harvesting fruit and later worked at Simpson Lumber Mill and Rough & Ready. After his children were raised, he worked as a custodian at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City. He was a longtime Crescent City resident, before moving to Grants Pass four years ago.

He volunteered his time at the Senior Center in Crescent City.

His hobbies included fishing, hiking, camping, the outdoors, and motorcycling.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Whitaker of Eugene, Oregon; a son, Jerry Brown of Grants Pass, Oregon; a sister, Josephine Roberts of Crescent City, California; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
