Charles A. "Charlie" Didato

Charles A. “Charlie” Didato, age 73, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Three Rivers Community Hospital

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

Charlie was born October 25, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York and was raised there. He graduated from Brooklyn Tech High School in 1955 and then attended Stanford University where he completed his undergraduate studies and obtained his Masters degree in Business Administration. He served in the United States Navy. On July 6, 1964 in Richmond, Virginia he married the former Cookie Beck. He also obtained his Masters in Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1979. In 1986 he moved from Washington State to Grants Pass where he served as Pastor of College Heights Baptist Church for 21 years. He served as a Pastor for a total of 36 years.

Charlie attended Calvary Chapel and served on the Josephine County Budget Committee, Josephine County Housing Committee and the Josephine County Health Board. He played Santa Claus for Head Start and Grants Pass Kiwanis Club. He was past President at Grants Pass Kiwanis Club, received the Oliver Oaks award, and was also a Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis.

His hobbies included reading, watching the New York Yankees, fishing and golfing.

Survivors include his wife “Cookie” Didato of Grants Pass; three daughters, Sandra Henck of Orlando, Florida, Debra Didato of Grants Pass and Janet Torgerson of Grants Pass; a son, John Didato of Grants Pass; a sister Marie Sardo of Port Richie, Florida; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
