Carol Frances Walden

Carol Frances Walden, age 69, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

She was born Carol Frances Wackler April 15, 1940 in Howard Lake, Minnesota to Edmond & Frances Wackler. She attended a one room school and worked hard on the family farm. Despite a severe case of polio, Carol graduated from Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska. She taught in parochial schools and played both the organ and piano at church. In 1981 Carol and her first husband, Jack Armstrong, moved to Oregon and purchased a pizza parlor. Following Jack’s death, Carol operated La Pooch Hut, boarding and grooming dogs. In 1987 Carol married Ernest L. Walden, owner of Victory Linen in Grants Pass. For 28 years she was the right arm her husband never had.

Carol was an active and dedicated member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent.

In addition to her husband, Ernest L. Walden of Grants Pass, Oregon; she is survived by three sisters and six brothers.
