Carol Ann Conger

August 7, 1938 — April 22, 2007

Carol Ann Conger, 68, of Glendale, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 as the result of an automobile accident.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Assembly of God Church in Glendale with Pastor Terry Bess officiating. A potluck reception will follow the service at the Depot. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on August 7, 1938 to Francis and Marjorie Whitely. She moved to San Diego, California in grade school and remained there for many years. Shortly after her high school graduation she married and started her family of five kids. She became a seamstress and opened her own business. Carol moved to Glendale, Oregon in 1985, with her then husband. After many years of hard work and dedication, Carol’s home became the Reuben Ranch U-Cut Christmas Tree Farm. She loved seeing the faces and smiles of the people coming out to enjoy a holiday tradition of picking a tree and cutting it together as a family. Carol wanted families to experience happiness, and life-long memories during Christmas time. She also wanted the young children to have something to look forward to and that was the Santa she made for the kids to take pictures with. She later bought a suspender business, Better S-Penders, which makes logging suspenders for all over the nation. This last year she also started the Reuben Ranch Firewood business. Carol was able to maintain herself, her businesses, and her large home, after having a stroke six years ago. Her stroke affected her speech, but not her spirits. Having the U-Cut Christmas tree farm is what made her happy besides her family and helping other people.

Carol was a member of the Eagles Club.

She enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing and playing with her grandkids when she could.

Carol is survived by her five children, Lynda Howell of Fontana, California; Dennis Ward and Melodie Ward, both of San Diego, California; Peggy Nowick of Sunny Valley; and John Ward of Palomar Mt., California; her sister, Pat Stafford of El Cajon, California; and brother Butch Whitely of Spring Valley, California; 13 grandkids; and 15 great-grandkids; and many friends and business customers. Everyone who knew Carol can rarely remember her without a smile on her face.
