Carol Ann Compton

Carol Ann Compton, age 66, of Cave Junction, died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.

A memorial service will be at 12:00 noon, Saturday, August 25, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Selma with Pastor Monty Pope officiating. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Carol was born November 12, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to Charles & Jackie Snow. She attended high school until the 9th grade. In 1957 she met Charles Compton of Victorville, California and they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 29, 1957. In 1964 they moved to Cave Junction with their four children. While Charles worked for Napa Auto Parts for 16 years, Carol raised the children and worked as a waitress at the Hamburger Haven. While her children were in school, Carol was involved in their school activities and many kids from Illinois Valley High School knew her as mom. After her children were grown up, Carol worked for the Pizza Deli and later retired to take care of her husband, “Lefty.”

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Selma and a bowling league in Grants Pass.

She volunteered with Evergreen School to help kids learn to read and from 1965 to 1981 volunteered at IVHS.

Her hobbies included gardening, flower arranging, bowling, motorcycle rides, crafts and collecting sea shells.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianna Compton of Springfield, Oregon; two sons, Mark Compton of Cave Junction and John Compton of Brookings; her father, Charles E. Snow of Washington; her mother, Jackie Miller of El Monte, California; a sister, Jan Gilliam of Cave Junction; two brothers, Herbie and John both of El Monte, California; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Louis Compton Sr on August 9, 2002 and her son, Charles Louis Compton Jr on February 14, 1998.
