Carl G. Trotter

March 18, 1935 — August 12, 2009

Carl G. Trotter, age 74, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at his home.

Carl was born on March 18, 1935 in Mountain View, Arkansas and grew up in Wenatchee, Washington. Carl entered the United States Navy in 1953 and retired after 20 years of service in June 1973 at the rank of CS1 with many honors and commendations. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was proud to be a plank owner of the USS Mars. AFS1.

In March 1959 he married Nancy Goff of Ferndale, California while stationed at Centerville Naval Facility. After many duty stations they along with their four children returned to Ferndale, California for retirement, but at the age of 38 years, Carl was not ready for real retirement - so he tried his hand at lumber production – caf owner (Boy, could he cook!) – store clerk and finally truck driver before real retirement.

Carl & Nancy retired to Grants Pass, Oregon in 1998 where they enjoyed Rving, the weather, and casino’s (they didn’t miss too many casino’s).

In December 2008 Carl was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and after a courageous eight-month fight, being baptized in the Catholic faith, and surrounded by loved ones, he lost his battle on August 12, 2009 at home.

His memberships included Fleet Reserves Association Branch #068 and Thousand Trails Campground Association. He volunteered with the Oregon State Park Host Program and Josephine County Sheriffs.

His hobbies included camping, woodworking, traveling and RVing.

Trotter of Grants Pass; his children, Cynthia & Phil Ireland of Grants Pass, Pamela & Frank Dore of Fortuna, California, Jeffrey & Heather Trotter of Crescent City, California and Jenny L.
