C.J. Moser Jr

C. J. Moser Jr, age 79, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, November 17, 2007 at his home.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2007 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Bob Roth officiating. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

C.J. was born February 19, 1928 in Grants Pass to Dr. C.J. Moser and Margaret Moser. He was raised in Grants Pass and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1946. He attended Menlo College for two years then transferred to Oregon State University majoring in agriculture. While at OSU he was a member of Phi delta theta fraternity and R.O.T.C. C.J. then returned to Grants Pass where he met and married Mary Donovan. During the 1950s and early 1960s he enjoyed working on family ranches in both Oregon and Nevada. In 1965 he started Moser Oil Company and later Moser Paving where he remained active until 2004.

He was a member of the Grants Pass B.P.O. Elks since 1982.

C.J. was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, bee keeping, and hiking the Rogue River trail. He also enjoyed gun collecting, real estate, and was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers football team. C.J. also loved his Blue Heelers, never leaving home without his faithful companions, Cody and Bailey.

In addition to his former wife, Mary Moser; survivors include a daughter, Catherine Jane Moser Drost; a son, C.J. Moser III all of Grants Pass; a stepdaughter, Karen Jewell of Irvine, California; a stepson, Don Jansen of Portland, Oregon; and a brother, Jack Moser of Bend.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William A. “Bill” Moser.
