C. Eugene Beck

C. Eugene Beck, age 79, of Cave Junction, was called to serve a higher mission on Friday, October 16, 2009 at his home.

A viewing will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors and from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cave Junction Ward Relief Society Room.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cave Junction Ward. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

C. Eugene Beck was born December 29, 1929 in Mammoth, Utah and was raised in Eureka, Utah. He served in the United States Army for two years in Japan. In 2002 he moved from Lakewood, California to Cave Junction. He will be best remembered as the “Candy Man” by most everyone and will be dearly missed by all.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While living in Lakewood he served as Bishop in the Lakewood 4th Ward. He was a temple worker in the Los Angeles Temple and at the Medford Temple and served a three year mission in the Oregon Eugene Mission. He was currently an active member of the Cave Junction Ward.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Verla Beck of Cave Junction; five children, Carol Judkins and husband, Bryce of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Caron Wesloski and husband, Mike of Las Vegas, Nevada, Charles Beck and wife, Sally of Cave Junction, Clarence Beck of Gold Hill, and Corina Moreno and husband Larry of Palmdale, California; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Thompson of Lakewood, California and Kay Lynn Beck of Santa Paula, California; and a brother Larry Beck of Goshen, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cyril, his mother, Grace, two brothers, Leon and James, and a sister, Larue.
