Bryce Dwayne Brummett

Bryce Dwayne Brummett, age 83, passed from this life on Friday, October 9, 2015, at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Grants Pass, Oregon.

He is survived by his children Vickie Chandler and spouse Greg, Emily McAlister and spouse Greg, Timothy Brummett and spouse Karen, all of Grants Pass, Oregon; and Tami Schamp of Springfield, Oregon; 15 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews; his sisters Mary Bennett of Kerrville,Texas and Barb Kauffman of Saratoga, Florida. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lila Brummett on April 8, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bryce Brummett Jr. (Butch) on June 3, 2009, of Layton, Oklahoma; and daughter, Joetta Brummett on February 9, 2014, of Grants Pass, Oregon.

Bryce was born on August 26,1932 in Lafayette, Indiana to parents Lloyd and Ella Brummett. In July 1959, the family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon and he worked for Paramount Pest Control for many years and ended his working career at SWF Mill.

He was a great man and a loving Dad and Grandpa. He married Lila Hathaway in Lafayette, Indiana on November 9, 1951 and the couple had 6 children together. He was deeply involved in wood working for the majority of his life. He loved cars and everything to do with cars and old tractors. In his younger life he played Banjo and the Harmonica. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and being with his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, kind, and generous person. His grandchildren will have fond memories of their Grandpa lovingly teasing them.

A memorial will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Jerome Prairie Bible Church with a reception immediately following the service. Pastor James Downing will officiate and Pastor Ken Bern will be assisting. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bryce’s life. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
