Bruce E. Robertson

Bruce E. Robertson, age 76, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors with Bob Parkins (Bruce’s brother-in-law) and Herman Baertschiger conducting.

He was born July 7, 1933 in Grants Pass to Wallace “Speed” Robertson & Lavita Hough Robertson. In 1953 he graduated from Grants Pass High School where he received the first Buckmaster Award for best all-around athlete. After high school he joined the United States Army Reserves. From the age of 17 he worked for Robco as a heavy equipment operator. For a time during the 1970s he also worked as a cat skinner in Alaska and was known as the best cat skinner around. In 2007 he retired from Timber Mountain Construction.

He loved all animals and visiting with friends and for the past several years he enjoyed gold mining.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Parkins Robertson of Grants Pass; his children, Rick Robertson and Karen Johnson both of Grants Pass and Stacie Dollarhide of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Ron Robertson of Grants Pass; a sister, Jean Ann Lillard of Long Beach, California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Robertson in 1999 and a grandson, Jon Robertson in 1996.
