Boyd "Butch" Davis

January 11, 1941 — August 13, 2010

Boyd “Butch” Davis passed away on August 13th at his home in Rogue River.

Boyd was born in Phoenix, Arizona on January 11, 1941 to Leonard & Mildred Davis.

Boyd was a quiet and sensitive person, a good and kind soul.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 thru 1962 on the oil tanker, Cacapon.

Upon honorable discharge from the Navy he started working at the VA Domiciliary, where he spent the next 30 years as a motor vehicle operator, transporting patients. Boyd was proud of his award for driving 1,000,000 miles with no accidents.

Boyd was an avid shuffleboard and cribbage player. He also loved running. He was especially proud of the 26 mile marathon he ran in Chico, California. He also ran many races locally and especially looked forward to the Pear Blossom Run.

He will be greatly missed by his “shuffleboard family,” cribbage partners and the many friends he has made through the years.

There are no words to express how much his family loved him and they will miss him greatly.

Boyd is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jeanne, and step-daughter, Michelle Eddy-Wels (John). During his marriage to Ann, his first wife, came three wonderful children: sons, Kenneth (Kayla) and Kevin and a daughter, Rebecca Lumsden (Nick). He was very proud of his 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He also had two wonderful sisters, Ruth Elaine Richie (Sandy) and Lenora Kirklin and many nieces and nephews who greatly loved their “Uncle Butch.”

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Dave and niece, Norma.

In lieu of flowers, his wish was to make a donation to the American Cancer Society for the research into Prostate Cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. All are invited to his home in Rogue River after the service.

Here’s to you Boyd {Butch}, you will always hold a special place in our hearts.
