Bob Matti, age 91, of Grants Pass, Oregon died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home.

Bob was born April 14, 1924 in Roundup, Montana to Godfrey & Edith Matti. He graduated from high school a semester early to join the United States Navy in 1942 and served until his honorable discharge in 1945. He met his future wife, Wilda while both in the Navy and they married May 19, 1944 in Long Beach, California. Together they moved to Billings, Montana where Bob worked as the contract manager for Pittsburgh Paint and Glass. In 1986 he retired and moved to Williams, Oregon and then Grants Pass.

Bob was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner both in Billings. He was also a member of the Laurel Golf Club in Laurel, Montana; a member and past-president of the American Council for the Blind Oregon - Rogue Valley Chapter; and a member of the American Legion in both Billings and Williams.

He was a master gardener, golfer, private pilot, expert fly fisherman, and a pheasant hunter.

Survivors include three sons, Dick Matti (Lynn) of Grants Pass, Jim Matti of Ninilchik, Alaska, and Paul Matti of Grants Pass; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda and a sister, Marylouise.

A memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016 at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Navy Military Funeral Honors and Pastor Terell Bowdoin Conducting.

Remembrances may be made to the American Council of the Blind Oregon or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
