Betty Louise Maitrejean

Betty Louise Maitrejean, age 87, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

A viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Betty Wilson July 13, 1922 in Santa Ana, California to Alvin & Anna Belle Wilson. Much of her early life including her grade school years were spent in Holtville, California. She then moved with her family to Costa Mesa, California where she left school to become a beautician through a local beauty college. On September 20, 1941 she married Clement Maitrejean. Betty purchased Vera’s Salon of Beauty where she had been working when the owner retired. She then owned and operated the salon until she retired shortly after her mother’s death. In 1984 she moved from Costa Mesa to Grants Pass.

Her memberships included Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion, SOARC Radio Group, Western Belle’s, Friendship Club, and Betty Club.

Betty & Clement were Amateur Radio Operators (Ham Radio) together in Southern California. Betty also enjoyed gardening and collecting figurines.

Survivors include three sons, Ron Maitrejean of Williams, Wayne Maitrejean of Murphy, and Martin Maitrejean of Grants Pass; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Maitrejean of Grants Pass; a sister, Celia Potts of San Jacinto, California; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement Maitrejean; a brother, Cecil Wilson; and a sister, Greta McClelland.
