Betty F. Stanger

Former Grants Pass resident, Betty F. Stanger, age 71, of Medford, died Monday, February 18, 2013 at her home.

Private services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born August 19, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida to Herbert & Nellie Blume and at age 13 they moved to Grants Pass. She attended North Junior High School and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1960. She went to beauty school in Medford and graduated in 1967. She worked in Ashland for a while and for most of her career she worked at Central Point Beauty Salon. In 1960 she married her high school sweetheart and always enjoyed referring to herself as the “Original Betty Stanger”, they were divorced 1966. She retired in 2005.

For a couple of years she helped Kay Mansfield at The Pear Blossom Parade working with floral arrangements. Betty was also interested in fashion design.

Her hobbies included ocean fishing off the Oregon Coast in Gold Beach with Don, her companion of 40 years. Betty also enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting cookbooks and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was deeply devoted to her family and affectionately known as “GG”.

Survivors include her companion Don Armbrest of Medford, Oregon; a daughter, Debra Lynne Kamping of Central Point, Oregon; a sister, Pamela Burgess of Grants Pass; three brothers, Michael Blume of Jacksonville, Florida, John Blume of Roseburg, Oregon and Rick Blume of Jacksonville Florida; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a sister, Sarah Brown in 1999.
