Bettie Louise Leclair

February 16, 1930 — October 10, 2014

Bettie Louise LeClair, age 84, of Grants Pass, died Friday, October 10, 2014 at her home due to a long illness.

Family services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W 6th Street, Medford, Oregon 97501.

Bettie was born February 16, 1930 in Hollywood, California to Harold Pearson Etter & Judith Goodenow. She grew up in Hillsborough, California with her parents and two brothers, Robert and Dave. At age 13, her mother died of cancer. Years later her father married Dorothy Woods and Bettie gained two stepbrothers, William and Peter.

Bettie graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara where she majored in History and she was in the Delta Gamma Sorority. After working at a stockyards exchange office for four years, she married Stanley Malcolm Cook on September 26, 1953. After Stan graduated from Claremont Business College, they moved to Vista, California to start an accounting firm together. Bettie and Stan had one son and three daughters which kept them busy. In 1980 Stan died and Bettie continued to do volunteer work for PTA and Patrons of Palomar College in San Marcos, California. She married again years later to Jack LeClair. In 2002 after Jack died she moved from Vista to Grants Pass to be close to her family.

Bettie joined the Bettie Club and spent time with hobbies including puzzles, needlepoint, reading and gardening. She also enjoyed shopping for plants, holiday decorating and parties.

Survivors include a son, John Cook; three daughters, Judy Ghiselin, Jean McMahan, and Janice Cook; three granddaughters, Mary Trussler, Kathryn Earle and Brandy O’steen; two great-granddaughters, Kioko Earle and and Lillian Trussler; a great-grandson on the way, William Earle; and two brothers, David Etter and Peter Woods.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Stanley Cook and Jack Le Clair; her parents; Harold Etter and Judith Etter; her stepmother, Dorothy Woods Etter; and two brothers, Robert Etter and William Woods.

She will be missed.
