Bernard Theodore "Ted" Rolfe

September 12, 1939 — November 22, 2018

Bernard Theodore “Ted” Rolfe, age 79, of O’Brien, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at his home.

Ted was born the eldest of eight children on September 12, 1939 in Corvallis, Oregon to William and Leona (Beck) Rolfe. Ted worked in the timber and lumber mill industries for over 35 years. Ted self-taught himself to read and write; and taught himself to pay the guitar and banjo by ear. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the beach. His hobbies included loading his own gun shells, bladesmithing, knives and woodworking custom handles; and had a passion for gardening.

Ted met his one great love and his best friend, Helen Loretta Darrah, in Kerby, Oregon. They married on August 23, 1959 and the couple were blessed with four children.

Ted is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Wayne Rolfe of Albany, Oregon; daughters, Carol Rolfe of Albany and Loretta Garrett of O’Brien; four grandchildren, Daniel Byers, Lauren Couch, Geoffrey Lasata and Makenna Moody; four great grandchildren, James and Jesse Beyers and Myle and Theo Avery; brothers, Herb Rolfe of Hermiston, Oregon, and Jon Rolfe of O’Brien; sisters, Sherry Parsons of Yoncalla, Oregon and Judy Taylor of Pearland, Texas; half-brother, Alvin Robinson of Crescent City, California; and many extended family and friends.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Helen of 39 years in 1998; their infant daughter, Tina in 1966; and his brothers, Larry Rolfe, Bob Rolfe and Bill Rolfe.

Ted was a loving son, brother, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and a friend to all. His knowledgeable mind and work ethic were admired by all. Those who knew and loved Ted would say he was a strong quiet man. He will be remembered for his strength, patience and love; qualities all who knew him hope to carry on and pass on to others.

No services will be held.
