Barney Jackson (Feb. 21st 1923 - Nov 4th of 2012) Barney Jackson age 89 of Grants Pass, died Sunday Nov. 4th 2012 at his daughters home in Aurora, Oregon.

Services will be held on Sunday Dec. 2nd 2012 at 1:00 PM at Calvary Church 2193 Midway Ave. Grants Pass OR 97527 with Pastor Ron Hayworth Officiating.

Barney was born on Feb 21st 1923 in Ada Oklahoma to Alan and Lola Jackson. They soon relocated to Long Beach California where he also attended school. Barney loved to dance and it was there he met and married Marian in 1942 at the Lynwood Lutheran church in Long Beach. Barney was not able to serve in the Military due to him suffering a compound fracture of the left elbow at age 5. However this never slowed him down. He worked in the Aircraft Industry and the Shipyards during World War II. Barney and Marian relocated to Grants Pass in 1946. Barney and Marian celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary Dec. 24, 2007. Barney was employed as a truck driver and truly loved it. He was the first Truck Driver in the state of Oregon to pull triple trailers and he was very proud of that. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Elks, and a Mason. Barney was also an avid golfer and a member of Grants Pass Golf Club for over 40 years where he had a hole in one! Barney also enjoyed driving for local fishing guides. Barney was always eager to help others. He never knew a stranger and always made others smile. He had a gift of spreading kindness and joy where ever he went.

Barney is survived by three children. Michael Jackson, Barb Wright and her husband Mike, Susan Roberts and her husband Steve and a sister Catherine Schott. Nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion in 2008 and his parents Alan Jackson in 1994 and Lola Kennedy in 2003.
