Barbara E. Wilburn

February 16, 1933 — June 21, 2014

Barbara E. Wilburn, age 81, of Grants Pass, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the VFW, 114 W. 2nd Avenue, Libby, Montana. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Barbara was born February 16, 1933 in Florence, Arizona to Ralph & Ila Morin. At a young age, she moved with her family to Montana and settled in Arlee where she attended a small country school up Valley Creek. In 1950 she graduated from Arlee High School with honors and as valedictorian. She went on to receive her AA degree. Barbara met and married Jack Holt and they had a daughter, Leslie before they later divorced. In 1953 she married Harold Wilburn and together they had six children raising them on a small farm on the Kootenai River. Barbara was employed by the City of Libby, Montana and the county as a dispatcher and record clerk. When her daughter, Leslie passed away, Barbara took early retirement to raise her granddaughter, Tiffany. Due to her husband’s health, they moved to Spokane, Washington and two years ago moved from Newport, Washington to Grants Pass.

Barbara loved reading, gardening, canning, cooking and playing cards. She was a giver at heart and spent her time caring for other people. She loved spending time with family and preparing large family dinners.

Survivors include six children, Linda Masterson and husband Gary of Tillamook, Oregon, Bob Wilburn and wife Barbara of Libby, Montana, Scot Wilburn and Larry Wilburn both of Spokane, Washington, Jerry Wilburn of Libby, Montana, and Karen Nelson and husband Mike of Grants Pass, Oregon; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wilburn; her parents, Ralph & Ila Morin; three brothers, Ralph “Bob” Morin, Richard Morin, Jerry Morin; a sister, Carol Sue Mapston; and a daughter, Leslie Morin.
