Aurelia Diaz Avalos

July 27, 1916 — November 21, 2007

Aurelia Diaz Avalos, age 91, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Haven House.

A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2007 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Jaime Osorio officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Remembrances may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 SE 8th Street, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526.

Aurelia was born July 27, 1916 in Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was raised by her parents Juan Diaz and Seferina Chavez and her Aunt Nieves. She married and raised and educated her 16 children in her faith in Christ. She was an exemplary mother in her faith and love in God to each one of her children. She was baptized on December 17, 1945 in her birth city. She remained in her faith all her life, evangelizing and teaching to all those she came in contact with through her wisdom and her life. Her children love her and will carry her in their hearts forever. She recently moved from San Ysidro, California to Grants Pass.

She volunteered at church helping the elderly and the sick and cooked for the congregation.

Aurelia loved to pray and sing praises and visit people to counsel, support and pray for them.

Survivors include her 11 children, Rosario and Vicente both of Chihuahua, Mexico; Maria, Alejandrina, Sara, and Ana all of Baja California, Mexico; Adela of Chula Vista, California; Victor, Jesus, Reyna Esther, and Miguel all of Grants Pass; a sister, Maria Felix Diaz; 65 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; and approximately 22 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Reyes Diaz Carreon and Isidro Avalos; and five children, Josefina, Manuel, Ines, Juan de Jesus, and Esther.
