Arthur William Jackson

Arthur William Jackson, age 84, of Rogue River, Oregon, passed away suddenly of natural causes on June 3, 2012 while attending church in Grants Pass.

Art was born on June 28, 1927 in Kelso, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughter Sue Pedersen, his sons J.A.C. and Patrick Alan Redford, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Fleming Jackson and Elsie Adele Serres, his brother Malcolm John Jackson, his sister Margaret Marie Skinner, his first wife, Jane Kaye Jackson, and his eldest daughter, Margaret Lynn Jackson.

Growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii, Art was present at the attack on Pearl Harbor. He graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Utah, where he majored in radio and television and participated in many theatrical productions. He served honorably both in the Navy and the Air Force.

Art worked for American Airlines for over thirty years in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Dallas/Fort Worth, and was Chief of Corporate Communications at his retirement. He also served as a volunteer in numerous organizations, in Rogue River as President of the Chamber of Commerce, a Friend of the Library and member of the Kiwanis Club, in Grants Pass for the Visitor and Convention Commission, and as President of Josephine Economic Development Association (JEDA). He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Art enjoyed traveling, reading, solving crossword puzzles, cooking, singing, laughing and spending time with his family. Most of all, Art loved people and in turn, was deeply loved by all who shared his life.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, June 9, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Savage Street building, 747 NE Savage Street, Grants Pass.

Friends and family may call for viewing at 9 AM at the above location. Interment will be at Woodville Cemetery, Rogue River, immediately following the service.
