Arline L. "Sally" King

Arline L. “Sally” King, age 98, of Wolf Creek, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Royale Gardens Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 at Wolf Creek Alliance Community Church with Pastor Jim Roberts officiating. Private interment will be at Wolf Creek Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Sally was born April 8, 1912 in Grants Pass to John Willis Johnson & Nellie Arline Moore Johnson. During her childhood the family lived in Klamath Falls, Marshfield, and Grants Pass. In 1931 she graduated from Grants Pass High School. In 1932 she went to work at the Wolf Creek Inn. On July 26, 1935 she married Lorenz W. “Chip” King. They lived in Medford, Oregon and Auburn, California before returning to Wolf Creek in 1937 to settle on the King Family homestead, where Sally lived the rest of her life and raised their three children. She was a founding member of the Wolf Creek School PTA and worked at both Wolf Creek grocery stores. She was librarian at the Wolf Creek branch of the Josephine County Library for 20 years.

Sally attended Wolf Creek Alliance Community Church.

Survivors include three children, Larry King of Wolf Creek, Oregon, Nancy Slayton of Azusa, California and John King of Glendale, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chip King in 1980.
