Anna Leila Paggett

Anna Leila Paggett, age 86, of Grants Pass, died December 1, 2013 at her home.

A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Riviera Mobile Park.

Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Anna was born March 7, 1927 in Seattle, Washington. She married Lloyd Troy Newell Sr and they later divorced. She attended both Umpqua and Lane Community College. In 1967 she married Arthur Paggett Jr. She raised seven children. For 75 years she lived off and on in the Rogue Valley and had lived in Grants Pass since 2000.

Anna was a member of Beta Sigma Phi; Elks; Josephine County Historical Society, and F.I.S.H.

She loved to bowl and spent many years as a youth bowling coach and was the first women inductee in the Clark County (Washington) Bowling Hall of Fame.

Her hobbies included bowling, reading, poetry, writing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include four children, James Newell of Mathis, Texas, Nora Levenhagen of Springfield, Oregon, Christina Paggetti-Finch of Amboy, Washington and Rose Down of Hoquiam, Washington; and numerous grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Arthur Paggett Jr in 2011; she was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Troy Newell Jr; a son, Victor Newell; and a daughter, Jenny Newell Pruitt.
