Angeline Catherine (Matya) Henderson
May 18, 1925 ~ December 19, 2017

Our mother has gone home. On December 19, 2017 Ann C. Henderson joined some of her family and friends in Heaven.
Angeline Catherine Matya was born on May 18, 1925 to Thomas & Catherine Matya in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. She was one of 10 children. At the age of 14 she moved to Omaha NE to live with her sister Monica. She worked a few different jobs but ended up working at Swanson's Frozen Foods. There she met the love of her life, Floyd Henderson. He knew he had found the one in Ann. They were married two days after Pearl Harbor on December 9, 1941. In January; Floyd was drafted into the Army and became a bomber pilot., Ann went with Floyd to different cities during his service. They settled in Fort Bragg, California while in the Reserves.
In 1961 the family moved to Grants Pass, OR and bought an alignment and brake shop along with their home. Floyd and Ann have nine children. Clarke and his wife Margo Henderson in Rocklin, CA; Jacqueline and her husband Larry Heer in Albany, OR; Gayle and her husband Jerry Sorensen in Grants Pass, OR; Maura and her husband Dan Kehr in Monument, OR; Robert and his wife Barbara Henderson in Grants Pass, OR; daughter Mary King in Grants Pass, OR; and John and his wife Shawna Henderson in Grants Pass, OR. She also has 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons Loren in 2008 and Tommy in 1988 along with her beloved Floyd in 2009.
Ann was very active in her church and volunteered with the Altar Society and helped at St. Anne's Catholic School. In the early 80's Ann went back to school and received her GED. She worked at North Middle School as a teacher's aide.
Ann loved time spent with her family and friends. She was an amazing cook! She could whip up a full dinner even when it didn't look like there was much in the kitchen. She enjoyed gardening and especially doing crafts.
There will be a private family only gathering at Hawthorne Memorial, and a public celebration of Ann’s life will be held for family and friends on March 24th at 2:30 P.M. at 480 Redwood Highway, Grants Pass, OR 97527. (Henderson's Line-up Showroom) This is a time for all her family and friends to gather and reminisce of our favorite memories and stories of Ann. We encourage those coming to bring snacks, appetizers, or dessert using favorite recipes of Ann's if possible.
