Andrew Devries

Andrew DeVries, age 71, of Grants Pass, died April 15, 2018 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.

Andrew was born July 16, 1946 at the Palmer Hospital that also served as the school and library in Palmer, Alaska. After graduating from Palmer High School, he went on to attend West Point Military Academy.

After returning to Alaska, he surveyed the Alaska Pipeline. He then worked for Mat-Su Telephone Association for 25 years until his retirement. He married his wife Dawn In 1989 at the Palmer Presbyterian Church. In 1999 he moved from Palmer to Grants Pass, Oregon. He then tried his hand owning a coffee shop in Merlin and working in real estate with Sherm Heater Real Estate before returning to his first love, computers working for PIPI in Eugene, Oregon the last nine years.

Andrew enjoyed golf and had three holes in one; bowling, once bowling a 300; and sports in general.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn DeVries of Grants Pass, Oregon; nine adult children; 22 grandchildren including one due in June 2018; seven great-grandchildren; his baby sister, Marie Keen; and his younger brother, John DeVries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John DeVries and Jessie DeVries; and a brother, David DeVries.

A memorial service will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Dutcher Creek Golf Course. Please join the family for a round of golf in honor of Andrew.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
