Albert (Al) Edward Lampert

October 17, 1927 – February 26, 2010 (Grants Pass)
Long time local Glendale/Grants Pass resident and friend to many, “Al” Lampert, returned to his maker on Friday morning. He has most recently been living at “The Suites” retirement community but continued to stay actively connected with friends and family throughout the area.

Albert was born in Bowlus, Minnesota, and was the youngest son of 15 children. Albert graduated from Little Falls High School, in 1947. Post graduation he was employed at the Pillsbury Mill Company in Minnesota. Albert moved to Oregon in 1952 with his wife, Irene. Together they raised five children and enjoyed many social years in the local community. Albert, known by his logger friends as “Lucky”, spent his career as a nickel miner, timber faller, and entrepreneur. Al’s timberwork and lifestyle was a good match with his personality and provided employment opportunities locally. He resided for a number of years on the “Big Island” in Hawaii. After Hawaii, he returned to live in the Rogue Valley to be near his family and friends.

Albert lived for many years with the challenges of Parkinson’s disease without complaints or slowing down. He always enjoyed socializing, was quite a good dancer before Parkinson’s, and even when communication and mobility was proved to be a challenge, he was always eager to get out and see people or go places, especially if it had to do with automobiles and racing events. Albert could be crafty and he truly enjoyed living for today.

Albert is survived by his five children, David, Albert Jr., Dale, Mary Mehl, and Stephen; their mother Irene, his sisters, Sister Mary Goretti Lampert, Charlene Lampert, Patricia Frank, Betty Pollock, Cecilia Posch, and Regina Lauermann; his four grandchildren, Matt, Sarah, Amy and Jacob and three great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 13, 2010. Final resting place will be in Bowlus, Minnesota.

Remembrances can be directed to the Parkinson Disease Foundation.
